How a 360 Video Booth Helped Destination Canada Inspire Travel at IMEX
A collaborative vision turned into an immersive activation that had planners lining up for a trip across Canada, without ever leaving the show floor.
IMEX America is one of the busiest, buzziest shows in the travel and events industry. And when Destination Canada set out to make a splash, they didn’t want just another photo booth.
They came to MDRN Activations with a clear creative direction:
“We want a 360 video experience that transports guests to iconic sites across Canada, from the peaks of Banff to the Toronto skyline, and leaves them wanting to see it for themselves.”
They brought the vision. We brought it to life.
The Vision: Transporting Planners from Las Vegas to Canada (in 30 Seconds)
This activation wasn’t about flashy tech for the sake of tech. It was about storytelling.
The Destination Canada team had a bold idea, to showcase the country’s historic landmarks and landscapes as the visual backdrop for an immersive 360 video booth. Not just one location, but many. The goal? Spark wanderlust in U.S. meeting planners and travel buyers who hadn’t yet considered Canada as their next host destination.
The Collaboration: From Concept to Execution
We love when a client shows up with a strong point of view. Destination Canada knew the story they wanted to tell, they just needed a partner who could translate it into a seamless, show-ready experience.
That’s where MDRN’s Activation Blueprint™ came in:
Strategizing: We worked closely with the client’s event planner to map out the guest experience, define success metrics, and identify creative touchpoints that would resonate with this audience.
Conceptualizing: Our team curated mood boards and mockups using the client's destination list, branding, and desired vibe, helping fast-track internal approvals.
Designing & Building: From cinematic lighting to green screen tech and motion graphics overlays, every piece was customized to support the client’s vision.
Executing Onsite in Vegas: Our team arrived early, ran full pre-flight testing, and managed every detail, so the Destination Canada team could focus on connecting with guests.
The Experience: “You’ve Got to Try This Booth!”
As the doors opened at IMEX Las Vegas, the 360 booth quickly became one of the busiest spots on the floor.
Planners lined up to step into their own mini cinematic tour of Canada. Once on the platform, guests were surrounded by animated environments of national landmarks. Each video was instantly processed, branded, and delivered to the guest’s inbox within seconds, creating a steady stream of shareable content and real-time buzz across the floor.
The Outcome
180 360° videos created
Multiple social shares from planners and travel buyers
“Best Booth Experience” mentions from attendees and partners
This was a win on every level: creative, technical, and strategic.
