How We Turned Influencers Into Tennis Icons at the Challengers Pre-Screening in Montreal & Vancouver

When MGM dropped Challengers, the buzz was undeniable. Zendaya, tennis, tension? Yes, please. But before it hit theaters, our team at MDRN Activations helped serve up a different kind of spotlight, one that put influencers and VIP guests on the cover of their own tennis magazine.

The Brief: Make it Exclusive, Make it Shareable

The exclusive pre-screening of Challengers was held in Montreal, and our mission was clear:
Create a VIP experience that felt as cinematic as the movie itself.

The activation needed to do three things:

  • Feel premium and fully on-theme.

  • Generate social content worth posting.

  • Deliver a personalized experience that guests would actually remember.

The Experience:

Guests and influencers entered our Digital AI Green Screen Magazine Cover Booth, a showstopping fusion of tech and design.

We designed a custom Challengers-themed magazine cover layout, complete with tennis-inspired headlines and details pulled straight from the film’s aesthetic. Using AI background removal, each guest was instantly transported onto a digital magazine cover… starring themselves.

The best part? Each personalized cover was sent directly to their phones via text message ready to post, tag, and flex.

Why It Works for Movie Releases

Activations like this are built for premiere moments. Here's why studios and agencies keep coming back:

  • It’s highly personalized. No one leaves with a generic goodie bag, they leave with a ready to post, digital cover story that’s all about them.

  • It’s made for social media. Guests don’t just post the photo. They tag the film, the venue, and the brand, amplifying your event well beyond the room.

It speaks the language of influencers. When your activation makes people feel famous, it becomes their favourite kind of content: flex-worthy.

Planning a premiere or influencer screening?
Let’s make your movie moment share-worthy, measurable, and memorable for all the right reasons. Because your brand deserves more than a “standard photo booth.”
