When a client reached out to us for their corporate event in Calgary (and so close to our Western location!), we jumped at the chance to pull out our cameras. The occasion was an awards ceremony at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and the client was looking for professional event photographers on top of some branded photo booths to catch the essence of the event. This wasn’t your standard event photography request, however. When it comes to photo and video experiences, we’re known for going above and beyond.

The event started with a red carpet entrance for guests while our professional photographers took their photos against a step-and-repeat backdrop. There, we took elegant event photos documenting key moments of the corporate event. Then, guests were taken to the ballroom, where our roaming photographers took candid pictures of everyone enjoying the night.

With our event photography services, our roaming photographers capture images while moving around your event or location rather than simply staying in a fixed position. After taking their first picture of the night, guests can consent to the service, if they choose, and register their phone number or email address. Then, the AI facial recognition technology works its magic and automatically sends guests photos that they’re in. No more sifting through hundreds of event pictures!

When it came time for the awards ceremony, we were tasked with more than simply roaming through a crowd or around the event. Typically, the on-camera flash is sufficient because photo subjects are close enough to get a good-quality photo. In this case, the client wanted shots of award recipients crossing the stage throughout the awards ceremony. The catch? We were stationed all the way at the back of the ballroom.

So, we improvised, adapted, and overcame by using photography tech that allowed us to take close-up shots from a distance. Then, to get the perfect lighting, we set up a system of wireless flashes around the event venue. This allowed us to expertly control the lighting for distant photograph subjects, creating professional-quality photos. The resulting images were elegantly backlit, making award recipients look like the stars of the show.

We also implemented a live gallery of all photos taken at the event that guests could look back on at the event’s end. There was one gallery link for the entire event, making it easier for guests to share and have a way to reflect on those cherished memories year after year.
